14k gold fill chain and wire were used to create this piece. Each swirl was individually crafted and then
attached to give each dangle lots of movement! Small citrine and moonstone beads are perched atop to add some extra glitter.

Of Foehn: At Angie Star March 2009
Foehn, pronounced feyn, is defined as a warm wind descending a mountain and what we have come to know as the Chinook Winds.
After moving to Colorado from the east, I became fascinated by these powerful and unpredictable winds. I continually wondered, what kind of trails would they make and what would they look like? I wished that throughout its journey, the wind could carry with it a paintbrush and cover the sky with its gestures. Soon I began to sketch the paths of the gentle swirls and the robust gusts, trying to create a visual form. I began to feel what they looked like as the wind would dance through my hair, or stir through the leaves. The next step was to take those sensations and sketches and morph them into a tangible representation, the outcome being this jewelry line. My goal was to harness the wonder and beauty of the wind and capture its power. I hope you feel it.
This is a ring that I did as part of my apprentice program with Ms. Katherine. Its a sawed feather ring.
This is another ring that was part of my apprenticeship. It is just a basic band with a brushed silver look.

A lot of firsts this week! My first sawed piece! A lovely swallow cut into sterling silver. All findings and chains were oxidized, only the pendant was hammered and filed to give more texture. Then a lovely piece of labradorite was added in the front and two were added to flank the clasp. The patina gave this piece an amazing color quality, it looks like there is a beautiful purple and orange sunset behind the descending bird. I love sawing, and now I have realized that the possibilities in jewelry making are endless...!
